I installed an Optima Yellowtop D35. The D35 is shorter than the Q85, but the terminal cover provided by Optima doubles as a base to increase the batteries height. Great design Optima! Immediately after installing the battery, the "Battery Management System Malfunction" message still displayed. Finally after leaving the car overnight, the message went away on its own. The i-ELOOP system is now functioning as normal.
Reviews of spare parts for Mazda
I've always had great luck running 0w-20 Mobil 1 through my 2012 skyactiv. Regular changes through 130k and counting.
The PS4S is the best tire I’ve ran so far. Everything just clicks. Good wear (I rotate every 3k), quiet, good sidewalk stiffness but very compliant for a daily driver, good feedback and gradual breakaway at the limit. I really really really like these and frankly they’re worth the premium.
I've had Continental DWS06 235/40/18 225/45/18 tires on my 2011 Speed and I loved them. The 235/40 had more grip but the 225/45 ride better. Simply put, the DWS06 tires are the best tires I've ever owned.
People are really enjoying the [Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s](https://www.firestonetire.com/tire/firehawk-indy-500). He friend got a set for his ms3 and likes them.
Smart to get the Mazda OEM valve cover gasket. It is much better quality than any of the aftermarket brands I've seen.
I believe Pentosin Pentofrost A3 is equivalent and it's also $19 from Advance Auto. I have both at home because the Pentosin is equivalent to Subaru coolant as well.
I had Ecopias (EDIT: EL-400s) on my Mazda3. They would not die. At like 90k miles I replaced them because they had gotten hard and the snow traction declined... they still had a decent amount of tread left.
The rear Konis on my RX-8 were a bitch and a half to adjust. You have to completely compress the shock and turn the shaft.
Be careful with the Exedy flywheel. The dowel pin could fall out and cause lots of damage. After it happened to me, I just removed the dowel pins after I bolted the clutch pressure plate down since they are only used to align it when you install the pressure plate. I didn't think the extra pedal effort of the Exedy stage 1 clutch was worth it and went back to OEM. Speaking of, the bearings that come with the Exedy clutch kits are now made in China and don't last that long, even though the other parts are made in Japan. I went OEM with the bearings (clutch release/throw out and pilot) this time around after I had to prematurely replace my clutch because of the bearings.
