I've been running continental contiprocontact, decently priced and great grip. They do me wonders in the rain.
Reviews of spare parts for Volkswagen
I'm running Continental PureContacts which are an all season touring tire on the mk4. In rain they grip like a bitch. In icy conditions they grip like a bitch. In loose dirt, decomposed granite etc etc they grip like a bitch. They are phenomenal
The two timing belts I've done the water pump have been that design.
The HVAC smelled really musty from sitting so long, so I replaced the cabin air filter with a new Wix one.
I have StopTech drilled/slotted. Ive ran mine for about a year now, purchased through Rock Auto. Very happy so far with the quality and performance. Take a while to warm up but then they hook just fine & work great with my Hawk Ceramic pads for minimal brake dust. They have held up just as expected, no signs of rust ect. I do not daily the R, so these do not get daily abuse.
Exact same problem as OP posted with stalling on cold engine within approx. 1 mile (if not much much sooner). Replaced EGR valve yesterday and it seems to have gone away. Rough idle has also mostly smoothed out and van just drives more smoothly and responsively overall. Also, my MPGs had been way down for a long long time, like 13-15mpg in mixed hwy/city driving. Upon replacing EGR I drove home in mixed driving (albeit more hwy than city compared to our 'normal' driving patterns) and got 20.7 mpgs driving home from having the EGR valve replaced.
I selected the Continental ContiTech Pro Series Plus timing kit with plastic impeller (PP334LK1) from Bap Geon in Newport News, Virginia for $245 and it contains the following components: ContiTech timing belt Annex-Technik water pump with plastic impeller NTN and Schaeffler idler pulleys Litens tensioner pulley OE camshaft seal Installation instructions
You've had the AS/3's. Frankly, I don't find much 'hard edged' about them. The ride is a bit stiffer than the OEM P Zero A/S tires on my MkVI GTI, but not tremendously. The big payoff is they are MUCH quieter than the Pirellis ever were. And as you likely know, they give up very little in the dry and I have never had a tire of their caliber in the wet. Under most wet driving conditions they drive like the pavement is dry.
Josh at GAP (GermanAutoParts.com) recommended these parts...my mechanic is semi-against aftermarket parts, especially anything not made in Germany, since the parts do not fit correctly sometimes. Josh said the HD strut mounts are made by Meyle
I just purchased a set of Bosch Icon wiper blades(19OE & 24OE) for my wife's '11 Jetta and I can't figure out how the heck to put them on. I took off the plastic piece that it comes with and tried to slide them into place between the walls but it seems that they have these little plastic edges that stick out and don't allow me to get the full mount inside.
