I live in Maine... as you can expect we get plenty of snow/ice. Never needed studded tires unless I was driving on a giant sheet of ice i.e. frozen lake. I run General Altimax Arctics on my 4Motion Passat, about $80/tire in 16" sizes.
Reviews of spare parts for Volkswagen
Mine started leaking last night. Took it to the dealership this morning and just got the call that they installed a new water pump under a recall. No charge.
I personally dislike HUCO brand which it had, I replaced mine with a BERU coil, still going strong since '97.
I have drilled and slotted rotors on my MK7. I have never had any warping or cracking issues with them, or one any other car that I've ever had with them. Performance wise I've never noticed a difference between stock or drilled/slotted rotors except for in wet conditions. When it's wet out break feel is MUCH better with drilled/slotted rotors.
I want to clean my throttle body today. BUT how imperative is it that you re adapt the throttle body with vagcom. because i have read that it will re adapt itself. My throttle body inside has a nice black ring so i think its time to do this.
Replaced batteries with red top optimas and all is good Ok so I just wanted to update the thread and mention that I replaced the yellow top batteries with red tops myself that I bought online and the car works fine. No issues. Everything works as it should.
Here in Australia the timing belt interval for the FSI engine in the Golf R is 105,000km (which is around 60,000 miles).
I run these in my Mk6 GTI and R here in Australia with great results - much less brake dust and they perform really well. I run them with the stock rotors. A work mate recently purchased a Mk7 R and changed the pads out to Remsa within the first month or two.
It takes a larger master cylinder to push more fluid to four pistons. The surface area of all 4 pistons pushing on the disc is slightly larger than OE. A larger (thicker) rotor is being used and I'm not sure how to calculate that into the equation or if that's even important. Regardless if you have the oe mater cylinder using Porsche 4 pot calipers you will have to get a larger master cylinder.
alright guys...i charged the battery and it started right up...put my meter on the batter with it running and it just kept going down in voltage over a 10 min span...so i would say the alt is bad...
