A very competent "All Weather" tire would be Nokian WR G3. It probably won't have the traction as a dedicated winter tire, but will be better than an all-season tire. as it still has the Mountain-Snowflake logo indicated severe service.

I have a 1.8t motor in my Passat; but, I had to replace my alternator last January....and I took some pics...I went from a 90 Amp Valeo to a 120 Amp Valeo....the pulley had to be switched over to the new rebuilt unit (I went to an Alternator/Starter shop) ....old one on the left (90 A Valeo)....new one on the right (120 A Valeo)....

Alright, I will look into the Green stuff. I'm just not wanting to go too high, because I have many other things needing fixed on the car (80k mile service stuff, tires, check engine light. etc.... Trying to get it all done as soon as possible, using a little of each paycheck I get.) Autozone only carries Duralast... which doesn't have the best reviews on their website. And last time I did a pair of my brakes, they gave me the wrong ones and I didn't realize it until the car was apart. Quick question... non bosch reman alternators are the worst...they rarely last long, so you are having a typical experience changing them out all the time....lifetime warranty is nice with those cause they suck, period.
