My TDI is now at 5000 miles, and per my personal preference I changed the oil. It is very simple with an oil extractor. Start to finish will take less than 20 minutes. This is a fast and simple way to change the oil and stay clean.
Reviews of spare parts for Volkswagen
i ordered a set of smoke long turns and fogs for my 98 jetta, and other than them being marked as US spec, and fitting euro spec instead, they seem to be nice lights. they look nice though, and seem to be pretty solid construction. The fogs dont seem quite as beefy as the OEM ones. overall I'd say a sound investment
on my Golf with only Koni Sport adjustable dampers and Kumho XS tires, I regularly set faster autocross times than many of the \"darling\" cars in faster classes in my local autocross events
New rotors and brake pads from http://autohausaz.com . ATE rotors and Mintex pads. Notice grease on rotors...I washed it off with dishsoap and water, but there is spray you can buy that makes it real easy as well.
Used the BC green on my Jetta with cross drilled rotors...it stopped very nice and bust was low.
So far I like the EBC pads the best.
I just bought a used VW and i had to put new tires on it already, someone at a dealer told me to go with the BARIUM Bravuris 2 (All Season tire) on mine 215/40/17" and with 10k+miles so far so good, very quiet, they seem to work better then most brands i know.
Okay, transmission of power; I found a heavy duty Sachs clutch kit, it has 20% increased clamping force. Pressure plate, clutch disc, throwout bearing, push rod, bushing and seal, clutch cable and all new bolts, and the release arm just in case.
i changed the original NGK spark plug with new Bosch super 4 spark plugs. a nice improvement but still far from old good performance.
The front rotors were in a box from Zimmerman and rear were from Brembo. Just about from the start the brakes slightly squealed. The noise gradually increased that nearly each time the brakes were stepped on they squealed. After about 2K miles the noise got to the point of being excessive. They squeal in the morning when cool when slowing from 20MPH or warm and hot when slowing from 45+MPH. The only way to make them silent is to slam on them hard, but the next time they will squeal as well. In addition to the noise, the rotors started developing rust on the hub sections.
