Engine noise:

For a 1.8 8-valve get the oil pump which ends in "D" (93 gas golf) it's a higher volume / pressure pump. the pump will fit the 1.8 engines and the ABA.... the "D" just pushes more oil through the engine which is a very good thing. Better lubrication, better cooling, less lifter niose.

Pros: better lubrication, better cooling

Cons: tiny bit more power

it was 5/40w fully systhic carlube ive been adivsed to run 10/30w genetic oil? i will also use a mk3 oilfilter huseing with the sensors because then i can wire the oil temp up as well which i can keep an eye on

ive been to a company regards this problem , with crank bearing failure , ive had the oil pump , bores, pistons ,rings,, oil ways checked etc were fitted correctly...all they recomend is fit a external oil cooler to help keep the engine oil cool

I had to fit a new alternator since the old one had died on me: I replaced the non-original alternator with a bosch 90A alternator OEM VW/AUDI. It got up to 13.9volts now, the regulator limits it to 14V.

Pros: voltage up to 13.9V

Cons: old one had died

Last night I finally decided to trash the bosch spark plugs and installed some new NGK spark plugs and while I had my upper intake manifold off I bought a couple cans of throttle body cleaner and gave my upper intake manifold out and also gave my throttle body a real good clean. It was covered in sludge. But anyways after I sea foamed it a couple weeks ago, changed the oil and filter, spark plugs and cleaned the throttle body last night my car is running like a champ and doesn't feel boggy anymore.

Pros: car running like a champ

Cons: covered in sludge

I\"ve had the high tec springs with koni str.t's for about 6 months & love 'em... wife hates 'em cuz the ride is pretty stiff now, but it lowered it just enough for my likes....
