I did make the move to the Accord V6 coupe calipers, and I'm really happy with this.

So anywho, I ordered a replacement and bolted everything back together. Cat put me slightly above budget, but hell... half the car is new at this point. Also, I got 34mpg over ~150 miles of test driving to and from work before I decided to investigate the cat; that's pretty good for what amounts to a 16 mile round trip with the AC going.
I'm just going to add make sure you use Honda oem fluids (crv rear diff uses honda dual pump fluid) Honda has special at, and power steering fluid.
I have a 2005 with just over 75k miles. Bought 5 years ago with 19k miles. I'm averaging 19.64 mpg. Most expensive repair have been 4 new tires after 50k miles.
Between the two that I've owned, I have way over 250k miles in 'em and they are awesome vehicles. Maintenance has been very reasonable although we just had to put a new alternator in the one we have now.
I found the issue - daytime running lights. I pulled the DRL fuse and the top, annoying layer of noise went away.
Car takes forever to warm up and seems to always be running rich, so I'm guessing either the thermostat or ECT, or both, is/are bad.
7th gen Civic headlights were worthless. A bunch of flashlights duct taped to the hood would be an improvement. Honda must have gotten an earful because the 8th gen Civic had excellent units.
Reminds me of my old mans '96 Honda Civic hatch. 6 hours to do the swap (4.5 out and 1.5 with a dinner break in) in his yard using mallets and a fucking chisel to get the old one out.
Major issue for me was the electric steering rack. It started creaking and making all kinds of noise.
