After getting the car inspected and new tires installed we decided to take it on a road trip to Asbury Park NJ for a wedding. The car performed flawlessly. I forgot how comfortable and smooth a Mercedes Benz is on the highway. Perfect roadtrip car for highway speeds.
Pros: comfortable and smooth
Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG. Nothing particularly bad but having a German for it's age, essentially a supercar, and close to 200,000km when I sold it, quite a few bits and pieces needed replacing. Mechanically the best car I ever owned though. Just hoses, sensors, bushes, brake disc's and pads that kind of thing.

Why did you get a higher amperage alternator? Did you sort out where the power drain was coming from before getting the new alt. Is the battery ok?

I'd prefer to get BMW glass for replacement.
I had a bad experience with the replacement of the windshield on my former MB S212: First an OEM glass was used and I lost the lane keeping assist. It worked again after an original MB glass was installed.

I drive a 1990. If the ac is on when I turn the car in, it takes significantly more effort to get to idle. The ac compressor runs off a belt and the extra load at start up those things off.
