I changed the spark plugs in my nieces 2.5L VW Jetta because it was idling at 1300rpm. Rock solid idle at 700rpm afterwards. Easy way to save some gas.
With these cars, it\u2019s less so staying on top of the regular service items from the dealer - and more so staying educated on all the little unspoken chickenshit maintenance items that VW doesn\u2019t outwardly talk about.
I've just changed the timing chain on my Polo and one reason is the different torque.
Starter solenoid. It's the bit that engages the starter gear and switches on the starter motor when it receives power from the ignition switch. It could be not getting enough voltage due to a bad connection at the small terminal on the solenoid.
My friend has a 2.0 mk6 Jetta and it’s been the most reliable car he’s ever owned. It’s only needed a timing belt and basic maintenance items and he’s had it for almost 3 years and around 100,000 km added. It’s seen multiple cross border road trips without skipping a beat, and It’ll likely outlive him
as long as it meets the VW 508 00/509 00 specification, it'll be fine which I think is 0w-20 and I \\*think\\* 5w-20
don't go beyond that, while it \\*may\\* not fuck the engine up, those 1.4Ts are REALLY picky (I had one in my Jetta Hybrid and anything past 5w-20 and she was angry )
I had a front wheel drive VW Golf GTI with an ECU tune. My front tires lasted about 25k km.
Only issues have been the insanely squeaky brakes, the sound quality on the speakers in the cold and crappy wipers.
I'm convinced the MK6 just has shitty brakes (I mean they do stop but I think they're just bad). I've had 2 of them and they both wear unevenly, hang up, or just in general wear out too quickly.
2022 ID.4 in Canada. Have had two replaced. Luckily when it happened it was in my driveway for all three times. Hooked up a charger to the 12v for a few hours and it started like nothing was wrong.
