I really like my 3.2 vr6, but replacing the timing chain on that engine turned out to be very expensive.
Just gonna put my 2 cents in, the slow crank is either the starter or the battery. At that age, if the battery tests good it is the starter.
For reference, my 2017SE that I bought new and has been stage 1 since new car break in, has 197,000 miles on her. I last checked chain stretch maybe 3-4 months ago and was only seeing 1 degree.

The replacement was a nightmare, they ordered OEM, but didn't realize there are different windshields for different trim levels until they'd installed it and couldn't connect the rearview mirror. Can't say its a defect since it was a decent sized gravel each time while driving 75.
in the last 13 months of owning an ID.4 I've had 4 cracks, 2 requiring replacement. All cracks have been with OEM VW glass installed at the dealer. I'm at the point where I'm afraid my insurance will drop me if I make any more claims.
I've got a '23 VW. Fluid smells sickenly sweet, like burning antifreeze. I'll be glad when it's gone.
