For my personal vehicles, I replace alternators at 100K with Remy or Denso new alternators and have never had an issue and I save a lot of money by waiting a couple of days.
Owner reviews for alternator
Nippondenso (Denso) is what I would choose, I believe this is the OEM manufacturer.
I would get Denso
If I’m correct Delphi was the original manufacturer for factory GM alternators around the time. 140,000 miles on my 2000 Buick Century still on its original Delphi alternator.
Replaced the 2017 ACDelco alt with a Duralast Gold 160 Amp. Life time warranty. For 200 bucks at Auto zone. Hope this is the last one I buy.
Sorry for the late reply. just to go ahead and close this out, it was a bad alternator. Took the 400 dollar hit to my wallet and bought a new one. Spent a few hours yesterday replacing it. So far I've driven it about 30 miles without the battery light coming back on. Thanks everyone for the help.
Step up and buy a Bosch. Yes, they do fail, but the odds are much less.
I bought a Bosch rebuilt alternator from ECStuning and installed it last night. The light however has stayed on.
I've seen it twice, both had alternators. The first was a Chevy truck. I was standing right there but didn't speak up fast enough and it took out the alternator.
So, OK, ended up getting a Bosch Reman from IMC, installed it to find out it was only producing 10Volts @ idle. Took it back out, and installed an Ultima which put out 14Volts @ idle.
