EBC Brake pads

Rating 5.0
  • Braking:

EBCs. I also did SS lines but my brakes feel amazing. And they’re barely wearing with 4,000 miles. And I hard brake all the time.

Pros: amazing brakes, barely wearing
Mileage: 4000 km

EBC BlueStuff NDX has my vote! They perform excellent on the track and are quiet for the street. I use stock rotors but feel free to upgrade those if you feel like it’s worth it for you. Upgrade the brake fluid as well. I used Motul 660.

Pros: excellent performance, quiet

Project Mu Brake pads

Project MU HC+ pads. These have a higher operating temp range than Ferodo DS2500 and are perfectly streetable too. I get very minor squeal when coming to a stop if it's been a while since they were used hard. they also have great braking feel IMO, nice and sharp, and perfectly controllable. I use them on a Renault Megane RS 280 Cup, I've used them on track with semi-slicks (AD09s) and they held up great in 15 min sessions. Some minor vibration after the day but that fades away with use (or another hard besdding session). Do not recommend Ferodo DS2500 especially with semi slicks. Might be ok for your first day if you're slow, but you'll almost certainly cook them on your second and get deposits on your rotors. Great performance pads or the street though. On my car I only use them on the front, rears are stock.

Pros: streetable, great braking feel
Cons: minor squeal, minor vibration

EBC Brake pads

The only pads I run on any of my vehicles now are EBC Brakes. Redstuff for daily/street leaning as they are less noisy, aggressive, and leave low dust with exceptional braking performance cold or warmed up. These are ceramic so they also have longer life than traditional pads. Yellowstuff for anything higher weight or power (have had them on my 955 Cayenne Turbo, an e90 335i, and on a Lexus SC400). Outstanding braking bite and not too aggressive for the street. A little more responsive in the cold but only marginally. The only downside is the high amount of brake dust, but a good cleaner and wheel coating can ease that. These are metallic so life is less but they have more of the “bite” many look for when they want a track-capable pad.

Pros: long life, exceptional braking
Cons: high brake dust (yellowstuff)

EBC Blues or Ferodo DS2500s are the minimum baseline for what I'd put on the track. They can both handle novice/intermediate pace without being absolute shrieking banshees on the street. Lot of dust though, and they likely won't hold up to more than 4-5 track days. But very streetable.

Pros: streetable, handles novice pace
Cons: lots of dust, short lifespan

I recently installed EBC redstuff with new rotors. Did the bed in procedure and worked great for first 300 miles or so. Today, I noticed a really loud squeaking noise coming from one of my wheels. Noise starts after brakes are warmed up, and increases when turning the wheel. Goes away when I apply the brakes. Think my pads might be glazed after some sprites driving, but not like I’ve done anything crazy.

Pros: worked great initially
Cons: loud squeaking noise
Mileage: 300 km
