Owner reviews for fuel filter
Mann from ECS for me. Every other filter change I pull what fuel is left in the housing, refill with your diesel treatment of choice and then prime. For me it’s just a bit of extra lube for the pump on my ‘14 JSW. When I skip this step I don’t prime and never had an issue.
I get my fuel filters from ID Parts. I use the Hengst brand, they're an OEM supplier. I've never needed to 'prime' the system after replacing the filter
New stuff i attended to. checked cleaned and pull apart the Warm up regulator. Was not clogged or dirty. worked fine. replaced the fuel filter, which i did notice was a little crummy. but normal.
Changed the fuel filter today. Had it sitting around for a while but haven't gotten around to it. Surprised by how much of an effect it had on the car. The car pulls noticeably better and smoother from the low end now.
One day we were going to the city with my mom and stopped at an Aral gas station and they had this enhanced diesel for quiet engine operation. That was the only time I can safely say that the fuel was really doing what it was supposed to. Damn van was super quiet (well for a 1970s 4 cylinder diesel anyway), until the fuel filter clogged up because the additives in the new fuel dislodged all the grime from the years of bio diesel.
New Bosch fuel filter: A trick I've done on other cars, is opposed to running endless wiring looms up into the rain tray, across to the ecu box (the into the cab entry point) which pop into the OEM rats nest above the pedals is find the sweet spot from the fenders into the cab.
I get mine for my 12v on puredeiselpower.com. I get the kit of fleetguard filters I think 4 oil and 2 fuel for like $80-$100.
I started to look at the fuel filter that I put in and noticed that people have been talking about different pressure regulators in the filters, I thought that maybe I put in the wrong one and someone else had done this before. So I changed the filter out for the latest VW OEM 6.6 Bar filter. Again this made an slight improvement
On my mk3 I ran a fuel cell gravity feeding a bosch 044 pump with -6hose. I chose a K&N fuel filter that had a billet aluminum body with a screen disk as the filter. K&N verified this was OK for fuel injection. Well, the pump was so high flow that the screen filter was a real restriction and bent the screen kind of forcing it half way through the hole.
