Just changed my fuel filter for the 1st time at 11,000 miles and a load of brown shit came out with it. Couldn’t believe it. Went with a new gm filter and installed an aluminum housing apposed to the plastic one!
I got the K&N Engineering Fuel Filter for mine, and I've been happy with it.
I use the recommended one from GM.
The car has 220k km on now, and VW has had to replace the high pressure fuel pump twice (2019 and 2021), and the in tank fuel pump once while dealing with random misfire issue that has since been sorted by yearly fuel filter replacement - fuel quality in my country is very bad.
I replaced my V7 III fuel filter with a Mann MWK 44.
I've always used the Wix fuel filter, and it worked well I guess. Lol.
So far all i’ve done is swap out fuel filter, ran liqui moly diesel cleaner and inspect for any debris ( found nothing that would indicate a HPFP failure.
I put a duralast one that was painted black and comes with replacement clips for like $20. The clips are guaranteed to break.
not the wix. I had their filter for a few months. it started leaking and the seal wouldn't fit anymore.
Don't buy the new blue AC Delco fuel filters TP3018. They changed the o-ring from round to triangular and they won't seal properly. I always get a replace fuel filter warning with them.
