Battery Tesla or Duralast
Duralast is a decent brand, I’ve always went with the gold, no real reason just that it’s what was in the car before.
my 2010 4x4 needs a new battery. This one lasted 4 years Duralast Gold.
Tesla on nmc battery drops around 10% after 8 or 10 years (can't remember exactly) from what I read. But lfp battery is inherently able to have longer life span and charge cycles. On top of inherently having ability to be safer / less explodey.
For context, I have a first generation Tesla Model S - 2014. It has 215,000-ish miles on it. The battery capacity has gone down by about 10-12%. It still runs and drives like a dream. It's on the original battery.
I've never had any reason to regret my decision in the past 15 months of ownership, and I absolutely love driving it.
I usually get a Duralast Gold from pepboys. Not the cheapest model, but not the super premium one either. Most CCA.
After 3 years, my Tesla Model 3’s battery range dropped about 7 to 15 percent, which seems pretty typical based on what others report. It isn’t catastrophic, but it is definitely noticeable for anyone doing longer trips.
My 2021 model 3 is also in for a battery swap. Furtunantely i still got warrenty. Only lasted 100k kilometers.
Yes, my 2021 battery died mid 2024. No warnings, no abnormal behaviour. Luckily it was still under warranty and the towing and repairing were free.
I recently had to sell my 2013 model s for scrap value because the battery was out of spec. Tesla wanted 25k to replace. It was right at 200,000 miles.
