Brake discs STOPTECH or OEM Volkswagen
I have the Stoptech Z23 slotted and drilled rotors with carbon ceramic brake pads. Overall, I’m happy with them. The biggest complaint is that they use undersized brake pads, which is a feature that performance pads have in order to accommodate expansion under high heat. Because they’re undersized, when you brake in the opposite direction that you brakes last, they will “click” as they shift slightly inside the caliper. They don’t do it while driving unless you change direction, but I would have considered less aggressive pads if I knew they would do this. That said, I have had zero issues and great braking performance in spirited driving and emergency braking, over the last 45K miles or so.
I upgraded to stoptech drilled rotors with the posi quiet pads. I'm happy with the performance on street for spirited driving, and they create much less dust than my old Hawk HPS pads.
I already have installed front 345mm rotors and calipers/carriers/shields/lines) from a 2008 R32/Passat V6 4-MO. So that works.
I use stoptech cryo slotted rotors front and rear, stoptech stainless lines front and rear, and stoptech sport pads and I have been very happy. No squeaks, squeals, and very little dust. After my last track day they did go a little wonky on me but I took an afternoon to go get them a little hot again on a fun drive and they straightened out for me. No vibration/wonky wheel ever since. They have worn nicely and I had it all installed back on Aug 3, 2017.
2008 Passat V6 4-MO front rotors, calipers, caliper brackets, and brakelines are plug and play. You get a factory BBK with 345mm rotors and calipers with a slightly bigger piston....as to not screw with the MC and brake balance too much.
I have a Canadian 2018 4motion Trendline, it came with 288mm front rotors.
I had the same with my GTI 2015 manual, I was braking less because I was using the engine brake a lot. At 8000 km I made a complaint at the dealer, they changed the discs, and suggested that I brake harder
Do both. The stock rotors are pretty garbage and cover your car in iron anyways.
Shaking issues happened around 20k. Replace the front rotors 526+ tax, and rear rotors need to be replaced soon (30k)... The quality of the OEM part is not good
Our rear rotors are garbage. The front seem fine but i can see rust marks for where my pads rest when i park it for the weekend. Im researching our incredibly limited options on rear rotors at the moment.
