OEM forsure when it comes to such a critical part. Wish I went OEM the first time. Thing lasted for 18 years

Oem racks are expensive. But on Toyotas they last 20 years.
nothing has made as significant of a difference as the E46 ZHP rack swap. The biggest night and day difference of any part I've replaced on the whole car.
I went with the E46 ZHP rack (second fastest) as my very first "quality of life" upgrade and it dramatically improved the car.
Mazda 3 Stick shift are very fun to drive. They have the same steering rack out of the Miata with added practicality.
Feels like my CX90 steering rack has a bunch of these in it when I turn the wheel.
Mine was the same thing. Had the recall for my 2024 civic. Got it fixed for free at the dealer.
Sometimes the Dorman OE solutions stuff is better than oem. Everything is a dice roll these days. I’m replacing a steering rack on my own car today that didn’t even make it 1800 miles before puking its guts out.
Had mine replaced, took about a week. Loaded up the miles on an even nicer loaner, so I wasn’t too bothered…other than the unsafe feeling around corners at speed.
I can tell you the recall done on the steering rack is a complete joke. It doesn’t fix anything. We’re supposed to push a little bit of grease back into the plastic gear and install a new little cap, spring and bolt. It just so Mazda can say “they tried” while spending the least possible money.
