I like Liqui Moly in my 2011 Jetta tdi but been really impressed with how smooth my car is running on Total quartz and been using that the last few changes. Total Quartz = smooth
Reviews of spare parts for Volkswagen
EBC redstuff, stoptech, OEM. All good pads. I think the redstuff pads dust a little less than OEM, but stopping power is really good from the factory for street driving.
I like OEM or stoptech rotors, again street driving.
I don’t tend to get a lot of life out of pads, but so far OEM rotors seem to last as long as 2 sets of pads. I just put on the stoptech rotors last time I did a brake job, so far so good.
Stock rotors are great, these brakes stock are very decent.
Update: went Bosch for the plugs and ngk for the coils, the manufacturer plugs and coils were still in as if no one has touched them since the car was bought, I’m the third owner I believe. Each spark plug was toasted, easily double the recommended gap, and once I put the first two coils in (pulled code P0300, P0301,P0302) the problem entirely went away (coughing and sputtering exhaust, slow to accelerate, car shaking between 20-40 mph, rough starts) so I knew it was a go ahead for the rest of the coils. Feels like a whole new car all around, I can tell the engine is thanking me by what she’s putting out now ????
Install was easy, just as planned. This kit is refurbished oe calipers powder coated red. Nothing over the top but they look much better than the bare metal factory calipers. I have driven less than 50 miles so far but initial impression is great. Nice and smooth, they seem to catch a little lower on the pedal but that can be due to how fresh they are and still removing the coating on the rotors. Since the rotors are drilled and slotted there is a little noise but I suspect that will go away after my 80 mile commute tomorrow. Happy to report the pulsating is gone and braking performance is much better now.
A few years ago I went with Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic front pads - CENTRIC 10505690, currently $25.79 on RockAuto, and some Pagid front rotors from there. I know Pagid is a VW OEM and I have no reservations about their brake parts. I’ve run the posi-quiet pads on MK7 Golf and GTI and they’ve been fine.
Hey, 2 weeks ago I bought Bosch QuietCast rotors from jeffrey bezos...FRONTS pair were $120 ($60 each) and rears pair was $60 ($30 each). Also bought Bosch brake pads from Tirerack for $45 fronts and $29 rears.
Honestly it just sounds like a bad coil on 1.
Again this is a brand new starter actually it's a rebuilt starter which is Bosch OEM. When I did remove the old starter and put in this new rebuilt Bosch OEM starter the car started right up. The next day I went out to start it and all I got was one loud "CLICK"!
metal impellers definetely can eff up your setup. I had one on my 2.0 jetta. and it completely froze, and caused me to overheat, which killed my headgasket. The engine never fully recovered from that.
